Featuring the expertise of several distinguished alumni in the field of healthcare design, this symposium looks at the ways design and the design process can transform healthcare.

Healthcare design research and innovative design of primary and inpatient care can help healthcare organizations address their most important pressures and opportunities, including cost and revenue pressures, patient and staff safety, patient experience and chronic disease.

The symposium is organized around research and design presentations by leading researchers and designers: Sheila Bosch, University of Florida; Hui Cai, University of Kansas; Josh Crews, Nelson Architects; Jennifer DuBose, Georgia Tech; Saif Haq, Texas Tech University; Anjali Joseph, Clemson University; Lorissa MacAllister, Enviah (TBD); Lisa Lim, Texas Tech University; Michelle Ossmann, Steelcase (TBD); Debajyoti Pati, Texas Tech University and a keynote address by SimTigrate Lab Director Craig Zimring.

Presentations will also include work by current researchers and students in the SimTigrate Design Lab. The result will be a view of emerging themes in healthcare design and research and a map of how researchers and designers can be full partners in transformation.

Hosted and organized by the SimTigrate Design Lab, and co-organized by Lisa Lim, with support by the College of Design’s Associate Dean for Research, the event is April 23 at 8:30 am in Georgia Tech's EBB Krone building in the CHOA Seminar Room.
