Register Today for Health Initiatives Student Mindfulness Book Club

Primary tabs

Mindfulness is the art of being present.

Georgia Tech is tough and sometimes it can be challenging to escape the constant pressures caused by the social and academic demands. Join fellow students in reading and discussing the book The Mindful Twenty-Something: Life Skills to Handle Stress…and Everything Else, while also learning simple mindfulness exercises that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine.

The Health Initiatives (HI) student mindfulness book club will teach you techniques to cope with or eliminate stress The purpose of the book club is to inspire students to learn about the factors that cause stress and to practice evidence-based techniques to help one manage stress in a healthy manner. Due to popular demand, this club features two sessions.

Session 1:

Tuesdays from 10 am – 11 am

Runs February 5 – 26

Student Center Crescent Room

Session 2:

Tuesdays from 10 am – 11 am

Runs March 12 – April 9 (excluding Spring Break)

Student Center Crescent Room

Registration is required. Those registered will receive a copy of the book and light breakfast at each meeting.  So why is practicing meditation important in one’s daily life? Club moderator and Health Initiatives Health Educator, Jocelyn Resnick said, “Through mindfulness, an individual is able to focus on their present state and inner self. By thinking about the now they can slow down for a moment and let go of negative feelings and emotions.” Grab your friends and join Health Initiatives for the Student Mindfulness Book Club. The book will be provided at the first event. Go to healthinitiatives.gatech.edu/mindfulness to register.
