Three Reasons to Join Fit to Thrive!

Primary tabs

“Health is so much broader than fitness and nutrition. It can also be alcohol, sexual health, sleep, stress, relationships, and more,” said Elaine Miller, Health Initiatives Health Educator and Fit to Thrive Instructor. Fit to Thrive is a five-week series that is designed to teach faculty, staff, and students about the importance of a healthy life and mind. Participants will learn about personal fitness, nutrition, and stress management as well as assess personal well-being and set goals to make improvements toward a healthy lifestyle. Here are three reasons why you need this program in your life:

Find harmony within the five dimensions of well-being.

During Fit to Thrive, students will learn about the five dimensions of well-being; professional, social, emotional, spiritual and physical in order to be the best version of yourself. “Everyone inherently has all of the dimensions, but you can focus your energy into improving aspects within each dimension”, said Miller. “Participants should be able to make valuable improvements to their personal health and well-being in all five dimensions.” Improving on these dimensions will help create harmony in your life.

Make positive changes to your personal health.

Through this program, participants “gain better understanding of themselves through learning about intuitive eating, fitness for life, mindfulness techniques, and more,” remarked Miller. During the Fit to Thrive program, students “will learn about their own strengths and abilities to make a positive personal change.” Health is more than just being fit, Fit to Thrive will teach students how to improve all aspects of personal health.

Practice goal setting to help fuel your ambitions.

During Fit to Thrive, participants set personal goals to point them in the      direction of a healthy lifestyle. Set goals using a multi-prong approach in order to define your personal health and well-being aspirations. “Fit to Thrive is a great opportunity for anyone on Tech’s campus including students, staff, and faculty, to learn about the 5 dimensions of well-being and make positive changes to their personal health.”
