Road Closures Begin in Atlanta Ahead of Super Bowl

Primary tabs

Super Bowl prep is well underway in Atlanta, and while all of the opportunities the city is about to have are incredibly exciting, they come at the cost of road closures in certain areas. The first one started on Jan. 21, with Baker St. NW. being closed between Centennial Olympic Park Dr. NW. and Luckie St. NW. through Feb. 8. The full list of road closures can be found here, though anyone driving in or around the city should be increasingly cautious of the huge influx of people expected to come into town and the equally huge increases in traffic that this will cause.

Fortunately, MARTA will expand its hours starting on Jan. 29 in the hopes of facilitating easier travel for everyone. From Jan. 29 - 31, rail lines will operate from 4:00 am to 1:00 am, and busses will run from 5:00 am to 1:00 am. Starting at 4:00 am on Feb. 1, bus routes 15, 39, 83 and 198, as well as the rail lines, will run for 24 hours until 1:00 am on Feb. 5. Feb. 3, the day of the Super Bowl itself, will see the Atlanta Streetcar operating every 9 minutes. More information -- including that about a commemorative Super Bowl LIII Breeze Card -- can be found here.
