Celebrating Commencement: Meet Eli Whisnant

Primary tabs

Eli Whisnant always wanted to attend Georgia Tech. Whisnant started college as a physics major at Agnes Scott College, but at Tech found a path that led to chemical and biomolecular engineering.

And, though nervous about the challenges Tech might pose faced, Whisnant hit a stride during the first semester here, finishing with honors. Whisnant earned a bachelor's degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering this weekend.

In addition to chemical engineering, Whisnant found the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking along the way. There, Whisnant helped set up exhibits and host guests at the museum affiliated with Tech’s Renewable Bioproducts Institute.

Whisnant also found a creative outlet through Tech’s chorale choir.

“The technical part of people and the artistic part of people — it’s very important to nurture both of them,” Whisnant said. “It’s a relief to spend time with other people and make music.”
