Getting to Know Georgia Tech: Emma Peacock

Primary tabs

With over 15,000 undergraduate students, six colleges, and more than 30 majors, the Georgia Tech community is a large and unique group.

Meet Emma Peacock – B.S. Biochemistry, Biology Minor, Class of 2020

Hometown – Dillard, Georgia

Why did you choose to study biochemistry?

I've always really liked science, especially chemistry. In high school, my chemistry teacher (who was also my advisor) encouraged me to pursue chemistry in college. While history and English come more easily to me, I've always enjoyed the way chemistry can explain how things work at the most fundamental level. It’s a challenging subject but very interesting.

Why did you choose to attend Georgia Tech?

I wanted to go to a school that would push my limits and where my success was not certain. I chose the harder path because I knew that I would get more out of the college experience at Georgia Tech. I needed a school that matched my ambition and drive, and Tech did just that.

What organizations are you involved with on campus?

I’m a member of Alpha Delta Pi, College Diabetes Network, Westminster Christian Foundation, Student Government Association, Circle of Sisterhood, and the Campus Christian Foundation.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love playing piano, hiking, and running. I enjoy any time I get to spend outside. I also enjoy going to the Fox Theatre and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra when I get the chance.
