Inclusive Leaders Academy Seeks Nominations for New 'Culture Champions'

Primary tabs

A professional leadership and legacy development program for managers at Georgia Tech is seeking nominations for its next class.

Self-nominations and departmental nominations for the Inclusive Leaders Academy are now open for the third cohort, and will remain open until December 3, 2018.

Created by Institute Diversity’s Staff Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement (SDIE) unit, the curriculum was designed to blend neuroscience and social science in ways that spark insights and guide personal transformation. The Inclusive Leaders Academy is open to managers at Georgia Tech.

“We encourage staff leaders to join the Inclusive Leaders Academy,” said Pearl Alexander, executive director of diversity, inclusion, and engagement and co-founder of the program. “Through this program, we provide leaders with the reflective space to contemplate who they are as people, and we engage them in becoming grounded in their common humanity and leading bravely.”

Within the first full year of its launching, more than 250 staff and faculty leaders have participated in the programming, yielding 165 Culture Champions.

“The curriculum blends individual online learning with facilitated group learning sessions to safely explore aspects of your identity, and who you uniquely are, to develop critical self-awareness and improve your personal influence,” said Cheryl Cofield, director of inclusion and engagement and co-founder of the Inclusive Leaders Academy.

Key learning benefits of the program – and core curriculum topic areas – facilitate self-awareness, social intelligence, and courage.
