Primary tabs

Dr. Chris Ippolito was invited to lecture on Francophonie at the University of Georgia (Africana Brown Bag Lecture, African Studies Institute) on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018. Dr. Ippolito’s lecture, “Francophonie and Neocolonialism in Africa,” discussed political and cultural aspects of Francophonie through various media (print, web, and television), and showed how French has been and continues to be used for neo-colonial purposes. It addressed situations in countries such as Rwanda, Cameroon, the Comoros and France itself, and pled for a new kind of decolonization in post-francophone cultures.

Selected as a Georgia Power Professor of Excellence representing the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts in 2016, he has recently published two edited volumes on literature and the notion of life, and autobiography today, and edited a journal issue on autobiography and society. A monograph on post-francophone identities is forthcoming. He is currently working on a monograph on literature and politics.
