Please join Gareth Hedges, President of The Redwoods Group and GT alumnus (PubPol’03), for the Cowan-Turner Servant Leadership talk of the semster, “Purpose, Profit, and the Future of Work.” 

Gareth Hedges was named President of The Redwoods Group in 2017. In his over 15 years with Redwoods, Gareth has served as Chief Claims Officer, General Counsel, Director of Consulting, and as a Risk Management Specialist focused on Aquatic and Child Safety. Gareth has trained thousands of staff and has presented at the National Drowning Prevention Symposium, Association of Aquatics Professionals Annual Conference, the World Conference on Drowning Prevention, World Aquatic Health Conference, and the American Camp Association National Conference, among others. Gareth serves as the Chair for the Darkness to Light Board of Directors and is a member of the Board for Habitat for Humanity of Durham. Mr. Hedges received a BS in Public Policy from Georgia Tech in 2003, and a JD from Albany Law School in 2009. He lives in Durham, North Carolina with his wife Nicole, and daughter Eleanor.

The Redwoods Group has turned the traditional insurance model on its head. In fact, Redwoods has been honored regularly by B-Lab, the non-profit that leads the movement to use business for social change: in 2012 for “Best Overall” and “Best for Community,” and in 2013 and 2014 for “Best for Worker Impact.”

About the Impact Speaker Series:

Since 2002, the Impact Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership." The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit leaders. The lecture series is sponsored by the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

The series is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
