ACLU OF GEORGIA SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

 A summer internship with the Political Department at the ACLU of Georgia provides the experience of learning how to operate within a grassroots movement focused on comprehensive criminal justice reform, and the assurance of voter rights across the State of Georgia. Those who are selected to participate will be involved in grassroots organizing, membership engagement, volunteer recruitment, engagement, and management, policy research, strategic communications, coalition building, and integrated advocacy efforts under the direction of the members within the Political Department.

Internship positions will be available in the following areas:

  • Athens: 3 positions
  • Atlanta: 10 positions
  • Augusta: 2 positions
  • Columbus: 2 positions
  • Macon: 3 positions

Responsibilities

 These positions are unpaid, with flexible hours to accommodate schedules. However, a minimum of 20 hours a week is required for the position.

-       Working with the Community Engagement Manager and Associate through assisting with event creation, planning, preparation, and execution.

-       Preparing policy briefs and memorandums for the Policy Counsel.

-       Conducting necessary research for literature and Political Department initiatives.

-       Processing volunteer recruitment intake; managing the corresponding data.

-       Attending coalition meetings, building our grassroots network.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

These internships are open to students who have completed at least one year of college and are currently enrolled in a higher learning institution. Applications must possess the following:

-­‐      A great passion for criminal justice reform and voters’ rights.

-­‐      Actively engaged with ACLU of Georgia values.

-­‐      Strong research skills, including Internet research.

-­‐      Strong verbal and written communications skills.

-­‐      Initiative to see projects through to completion.

-­‐      Highly skilled with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

-­‐      Highly skilled with the G Suite (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Sheets, etc.)

-­‐      Some experience with the Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
