Political Comics in China: The Works of Li Xiaoguai

Time: Monday, April 2, 2018 from 4:30-6:00pm. A dinner reception will be held from 6:00-7:00pm.

Location: Stephen C. Hall Building (Room 102)

An event with the Chinese comic artist, Li Xiaoguai, An Icon of Chinese Internet Culture and Youth Culture. Mr. Li will discuss his comic art and show how the Chinese writing and characters are creatively employed against the Chinese government's Internet censorship and ideological control.

The event features an interdisciplinary panel discussion with professors: Dr. Paul Foster in Chinese Literature and Popular Culture (Georgia Tech), Dr. Stephen Herschler in Politics (Oglethorpe University), and Dr. Yu Li in Linguistics (Emory University).
