Campus Recreation Hits the Big Screen

Primary tabs

You may have noticed a new addition to the Campus Recreation Complex (CRC). It’s shiny and bright and you can see it from across campus. Campus Recreation is excited to announce the installation of a new state-of-the-art video board on the Stamps Recreation fields, typically used for spot clubs and intramurals, which is located adjacent to CRC and aquatics facility.

To celebrate this new addition, CRC is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 15th from 11:30-1pm. The entire Georgia Tech community is invited to join in on the formal ribbon cutting followed by a screening of the start of the 2nd round of March Madness on the video board. Lunch will also be provided to those in attendance.

The Student Government Association (SGA) was instrumental in bringing this board to CRC. Michael Edwards, Senior Director of Campus Recreation said, “This videoboard was brought to campus thanks to the partnership and hard work of the SGA and our CRC team. This idea has been in the works since 2015 and, if it wasn’t for the support of the SGA, it would not be here now.”  The video board is an exciting addition to CRC and will provide an enhanced game day experience for our athletes and fans. This video board will also be instrumental for emergency preparedness alerts serving as a real-time beacon when Georgia Tech situational awareness events occur.

Additionally, the video board will be available for student organizations and campus departments to help promote their activities beginning in the fall semester. Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, Dan Hazlett said, “I would like the campus to take advantage of this resource. I believe the board can be used to provide integrated messaging toward personal well-being.” The sheer size of this board will allow for messaging to reach a larger more diversified audience. Stay tuned for a future advertising package for use of this screen.
