Internship Credit Hours and Registration

This internship is a partnership between AT&T Intellectual Property and the Georgia Tech Center for Career Discovery and Development (C2D2) and qualifies for audit credit hours (no tuition or fees) and official transcript designation only if officially registered through C2D2.  The audit credit hours serve as academic credit hour placeholders towards full-time status, and interns only have to register for the additional number in academic credit hours to achieve full-time student status (12 credit hours) as long as the internship is officially registered for each semester.*   For example, an internship of six registered audit credit hours + six registered academic credit hours = full-time student status. Details regarding how to register the internship will be provided after the completion of the selection process.

* Internship registration is not required. Only a registered internship will receive transcript designation, audit credit hours towards full time status. You must register before the first day of the internship.

Financial Aid and Graduation Goals

The internship may limit or preclude the intern from taking courses for academic credit.  Applicants are responsible for consulting with their financial aid advisors (if applicable) to ensure participation in an internship with audit credit hours is permissible.  Applicants are also responsible for consulting with their academic advisors before applying to ensure that the internship will not hinder graduation goals.

Students may have summer course options available through the Summer Online Undergraduate Program (SOUP).  Similar to Tech courses taught on campus, online courses are semester-based and available to Georgia Tech students who will be working at an internship, co-op, or unable to be on campus during the summer.   https://pe.gatech.edu/summer-classes

Internship Responsibilities

Interns shall abide by all policies set forth by AT&T and AT&T Intellectual Property and are required to have a background check and a Confidentiality, Ownership Assignment, and Non-Solicitation Agreement form on file.  The intern shall be responsible for carrying out all responsibilities assigned during the internship and outlined by AT&T Intellectual Property, Georgia Tech Pre-Law Advising, and C2D2 before receiving internship audit credit and final transcript designation. Failure to fulfill all responsibilities can result in the internship transcript designation listed as “unsuccessful audit” and loss of the audit credit hour benefit.
