Religious & Scientific Perspectives on the Future of Life
Leadership and Multifaith Program (LAMP) Symposium
Saturday, February 17, 2018, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM

The symposium will be held at Candler School of Theology at Emory University (1531 Dickey Drive, Atlanta, GA 30322) from 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2018. This gathering aims to generate a multifaith discussion among scholars, clergy, community leaders, and students about science, spirituality, and the future of life on earth and elsewhere. Speakers will address this theme from diverse disciplinary perspectives, including cognitive science, religious studies, ecology, ecotheology, ethics, and astrobiology. The event will begin with a keynote address by Dr. Arri Eisen, of Emory University, entitled, “What Happens When You Mix Monks, Nuns, and Scientists? The Emory-Tibet Science Initiative.” This will be followed by three panel sessions: Life of the Mind-Body-Spirit, Life Here on Earth, and Life in the Cosmos. During lunch, participants may attend a round table discussion on science, seminaries, and theological education, led by Dr. William P. Brown of Columbia Theological Seminary. A short reception will follow the final session.

This symposium was organized in partnership with Georgia Tech Astrobiology and is co-sponsored by Columbia Theological Seminary. The event is free and open to the public and registration is required. Register here by February 6, 2018, at 5:00 PM. See the LAMP websitefor details or contact us at lamp@iac.gatech.edu.
