Several faculty members and graduate students from the School of Public Policy participated in the 2017 Academy of Management meeting in downtown Atlanta earlier this month. Among them were professor John Walsh, who served as a distinguished speaker for a workshop panel on the organization of science; assistant professor Scott Ganz, who presented a paper in the Organization and Management Theory division; associate professor Gordon Kingsley, who served as the chair of a panel session; and doctoral students Evan Mistur and Seokbeom Kwon, who both presented papers at the meeting. 

Mistur co-authored the paper "The Influence of Task Complexity in Shaping Environmental Review and Project Design Duration" along with Kingsley, associate professor Juan Rogers, post-doctoral fellow Hannah An, and associate professor Dan Matisoff. After getting involved through his graduate research assistantship, Mistur has some valuable takeaways from the experience. 

"AOM presented an excellent opportunity to put the skills I have acquired at the SPP into practice while engaging with the international academic community."

Kingsley, who has been a member of the Academy of Management since he was in graduate school and has served as a division chair in years past, also has some insight on his most recent AOM experience. 

"I am impressed by how well represented the School of Public Policy was at the conference," Kingsley said. "Our faculty and students made contributions to seven of the different research divisions sponsored by the Academy and I also ran into several alums from our program who were presenting their research at the conference."
