HTS\' Phalkey Wins Award for Best Dissertation

Jahnavi Phalkey, who earned her PhD from the School of History, Technology, and Society (HTS) in 2007, has won the 2008 Sardar Patel Award from the Center for India and South Asia, and the Department of History, University of California, Los Angeles.

The award is for the best dissertation on the subject of modern India submitted at any American university during the academic year. Phalkey's dissertation topic was "Science, State Formation and Development: the Organization of Nuclear Research in India, 1938-1959." Her supervisor was HTS Professor John Krige.
