Abstract:
The objective of the proposed research is to provide a comprehensive suite of methodologies for characterizing and quantifying scattering of angle-beam shear waves measured on the surface of an aluminum plate with scatterers. This proposal presents three major techniques for analyzing through-hole shear wave scattering. The first is to perform wavefield baseline subtraction to separate scattered waves. The second is to extract the shear mode by phase velocity filtering. The third is to quantify shear wave scattering via time-space windowing. Proposed future work will focus on developing and implementing analysis methods for more complex scatterers, such as part-through holes and notches emanating from through-holes.
