HEALTH PROMOTION COMMEMORATES WORLD AIDS DAY

Primary tabs

Georgia Tech, did you know that World AIDS Day is happening this December 1st here on campus? World AIDS Day is a national event created to help get the number of HIV diagnosis down to ZERO. World AIDS Day is held on the 1st of December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. On World AIDS Day this gives us the chance to show solidarity to millions who are living with HIV.

Wearing a red ribbons shows support in a simple way. Over the last decade, the annual number of new HIV diagnoses has declined by 19% (CDC, 2014). This day gives us the oppurtunity to talk about HIV and keep the momentum of showing suport going all year round.

To show your support:

  • Share your picture on social media with #WorldAIDSDayGT
  • Wear RED on December 1st to commemorate World AIDS Day.
  • Stop by the World AIDS Day Table on December 1st in the Student Center from 11am-1pm to learn about HIV/AIDS and win prizes!
