• National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program
  The NSF GRFP program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's degrees and Ph.D.s. For further assistance with the application process, constructing application essays, etc., please connect with Kathryn Meehan, prestigious fellowships advisor, in the Center for Career Discovery and Development. Appointments with Meehan may be scheuled at https://gatech.gradesfirst.com/.
  Deadline: Applications due between Oct. 24-28, with specific deadline dates during this range depending on applicant’s particular subject area.
• NSF Alan T. Waterman Award
  Please direct all inquiries about the award and the nomination procedures to waterman@nsf.gov.
  Deadline: Oct. 21
• Jefferson Science Fellowship Competition
  This program engages the academic STEM and medical communities in the design and implementation of U.S. foreign policy and international development objectives.
  Deadline: Oct. 31
• Oak Ridge Associated University Internships, Scholarships, and Fellowships
  The Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) consortium works to create partnerships that bring together university faculty and students to collaborate on major scientific initiatives that help keep the nation on the leading edge of science and technology. ORAU also partners with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and other national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry to work toward the following goals: strengthen America’s scientific research and education enterprise to enhance global competitiveness, and enhance the nation’s preparedness to respond to emergencies related to terrorist incidents, natural disasters, and health threats. As such, ORAU’s internship and fellowship programs provide pathways to government research careers. ORAU also manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) program for the U.S. Department of Energy; ORISE offers summer internships and fellowships each year for graduate students doing science and engineering research.
• Graduate Engineering Degrees for Minorities (GEM) Fellowship
  The National GEM Consortium’s mission is to increase the participation of underrepresented groups (African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanic Americans) at the master’s and doctoral levels in engineering and science.
  Deadline: Nov. 15
• P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship
  The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for selected international women for graduate study in the United States and Canada.
  Deadline/Special Note: Eligibility must be established before application material is sent to applicants. The eligibility information is available on the website at any time; however, the completed eligibility form will be accepted electronically in the IPS office through Dec. 15.
• National Physical Science Consortium: Graduate Fellowships in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering
  The application is open to U.S. citizens, with emphasis on recruitment of a diverse pool of female and underrepresented minority applicants.
  Deadline: Dec. 9
• Data Science Fellowship
  The Data Incubator is an intensive eight-week fellowship that prepares master’s students, Ph.D. students, and postdocs who are seeking industry careers as data scientists in STEM and social science fields. The upcoming sections will be from Jan. 3-Feb. 24, 2017. Eligibility includes anyone within one year of graduating from a master’s or Ph.D. program or who has already obtained a master’s or Ph.D. International students are welcome to apply.
