Enabling Technology: An Open House

Primary tabs

Enabling Technology, an open house event sponsored by several Georgia Tech research centers, will take place April 27th, 2010. The event features demonstrations, presentations, and tours to showcase the latest Georgia Tech research on new technologies for people with disabilities and the elder segment of the population. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet faculty and students and learn about ongoing research.

The event is sponsored by several research-oriented organizations; The Aware Home Research Initiative, the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA), the Rehabilitation Engineering and Research Center on Wireless Technology, the Center for Advanced Communication Policy (CACP), and the Health Systems Institute (HSI), plus the Shepherd Center of Atlanta and a graduate-level course in the College of Architecture, called the Happy Healthy Home.

Activities will take place in three adjacent locations, all located near the intersection of Hemphill St. and 10th St. on North Campus (a familiar landmark is the Rocky Mountain Pizza restaurant). CATEA is located in a former church building at the corner of 10th and Hemphill. The Aware Home is in a craftsman-style house across the street on 10th, and the Wireless RERC and CACP are in the Institute for Paper Science and Technology building, across Hemphill St. from CATEA.
