Earth Day T-shirt Design, Award Nominees Sought

Primary tabs

With planning for the 13th annual Georgia Tech Earth Day Celebration under way, the T-shirt design contest and nominations for environmental awards are open to the campus community.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees are eligible to submit their T-shirt designs for a chance to win $500. Submissions must include this year’s theme, “Celebrate Our World,” in the design. The design area must fit within 8 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches wide.

All criteria and contest rules are located on the Georgia Tech Earth Day Web.

Nominations also are open for the Environmental Leadership Award (ELA) and the Environmental Initiative Award (EIA).

Only one environmental impact award was given in past years. This is the seventh year for the ELA, and the first for the EIA. The awards recognize an impact on recycling, clean-air initiatives, water conservation, energy and sustainability, pollution control and other environmental issues.

The ELA recognizes an individual or group who has had a significant impact in these areas via a long-term commitment, resulting in a body of exemplary work. The newly created EIA celebrates a particular project by an individual or group within the past year that has impacted the campus in key environmental areas.

All criteria and information is located on the Georgia Tech Earth Day Web site.

T-shirt designs and the ELA and EIA nominations are due March 12.

The 13th Annual Earth Day Celebration will be held April 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., along Skiles Walkway.
