Athletics Association Seeks Summer Tutors

Primary tabs

GT Athletic Association's department of Academic Support seeks Calculus (5-6 tutors needed), EAS (1-2 tutors needed) and APPH 1040 (1-2 tutors needed). The pay scale starts at $10/hr for undergraduate tutors and $12/hr for graduate tutors depending on experience.  Tutoring sessions are Monday through Thursday (8AM-6PM) and Friday (8AM-3PM).  There is no minimum on hours worked, but prefer 3-4 hours/week availability.

In the Hearn Academic Center, peer tutors lead course-based tutorial sessions, either one-on-one or in small groups.  Please know that we are seeking individuals with strong communication skills and those with an ability to relate to students with diverse academic backgrounds. The tutoring program is guided by the codes of academic conduct and integrity set forth by the ACC, the NCAA, and Georgia Tech.  Tutor-student placements will be made based upon the students' subject requests and their daily availability.  You will be scheduled up to a maximum number of hours per week as you're willing to work. The ability to work with the same individual or group weekly throughout the semester provides both you and the students assigned a level of consistency, as well as the opportunity to establish and maintain rapport.

Qualifications Required:

·       earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

·       Undergraduate tutors need to have passed a minimum of 30 college credit hours (exceptions may be granted) at Georgia Tech.

·       Must have earned a ‘B’ or better in the course you wish to tutor.

In addition to your application, please also submit a copy of your resume. If you have any questions, contact Jackie Smith, Tutor Coordinator, at jsmith@athletics.gatech.edu.
