GT ACM: Bjarne Stroustrup, Creator of C++

Bjarne Stroustrup is commonly known as the the creator of C++ and is responsible for writing the standard text on the language "The C++ Programming Language." C++ is widely used in the industry in areas such as systems software, application software, device drivers, embedded software, high-performance server and client applications, and entertainment software.
Currently, Stroustrup works as the College of Engineering Chair in Computer Science at Texas A&M University. He earned his cand. scient (Master's equivalent) from the University Aarhus, Denmark in 1975, and a Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, England in 1979, which in the same year, he started developing C++. He is also known as the head of AT&T Lab's Large-scale Programming Research department, from its creation until late 2002.
