With a $450,000 NSF grant, assistant professors Jonathon Giffin and Patrick Traynor of Computer Science hope to find ways for mobile phone carriers to monitor their networks for evidence of cyber attacks--and stop them. "While a single user might realize that a phone is behaving differently, that person probably won’t know why," Traynor says.
