H.O.T. Days at Georgia Tech

WHAT IS H.O.T. Days @ GT? A one-week long summer enrichment program designed to introduce Georgia High School students to electrical and computer engineering concepts. Program attendees will participate in a wide variety of hands-on activities, including building a computer, working with robots, using music synthesis technology, building simple digital logic circuits, constructing a speaker from common household products, constructing an electronics project and touring of various research labs. These activities are designed by and will be instructed by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty and researchers.

WHO SHOULD APPLY? All rising 10th and 11th grade high school students with an interest in hands-on activities, science or math are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in gender and ethnic diversity, so we especially encourage girls and minorities to submit applications.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Submission of (i) a completed online application, (ii) a
recommendation form, completed by a math, physics, or chemistry teacher, (iii) a copy of current transcripts, and (iv) a $10 non-refundable application fee. Program description and application materials are available on the H.O.T. Days website.

DEADLINE: The online application must be submitted by 4PM EST on April 8. All supporting
materials and $10 application fee must be postmarked no later than April 8 to be considered.

TUITION: The $175 tuition must be submitted no later than two weeks after being notified of
acceptance. The tuition is refundable up to three (3) weeks prior to the beginning of the program in the event the student cannot participate in the program. The tuition covers lunch, snacks, materials and supplies for the daily activities.

SPONSORS: The program is sponsored by the Motorola Foundation, Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech.
