Pre-Health Advisor

The Center for Career Discovery and Development is pleased to announce the arrival of Georgia Tech’s new pre-health advisor, Francisco Castelan.

Castelan brings more than ten years of experience with health professions advising, including continued collaboration with the Tour for Diversity in Medicine, a non-profit organization. He currently holds leadership positions in the National Association of Advisors in the Health Profession (NAAHP) as the Chair for the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) and as a Co-chair for the 2016 National Conference.  As a representative of NAAHP, he serves on the Committee on Student Diversity Affairs (COSDA) for the Association of American Medical Colleges’ (AAMC) Group on Student Affairs (GSA). In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and pursuing his artistic endeavors with photography and acrylic painting.

Castelan will join the pre-graduate and pre-professional advising team, which guides students seeking admission to professional or graduate school or pursuing prestigious fellowships.  Students may schedule an appointment with Castelan or any member of the advising team by using the GradesFirst advising scheduler: gatech.gradesfirst.com.

Pre-Law Advisor

Did you know Georgia Tech now has a Pre-Law Advisor?  The advisement program started in August of 2015 as part of the Pre-Professional and Pre-Graduate team in the Center for Career Discovery and Development (C2D2). Susan Belmonte, also the Pre-Teaching Advisor, is on campus to assist students and alumni who are considering a career in the legal field, looking for exploration opportunities, and applying to law school.

The first annual Georgia Law Schools and Tech Pre-Law Highlights Fair will be on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 11:00 - 2:00 in the Piedmont Room of the Student Center.  This walk-in event will give attendees the chance to meet recruiters and admissions officers from the law schools at Emory, Georgia State, John Marshall Atlanta, Mercer, the University of Georgia, and the Savannah Law School.  Additionally, students can meet the pre-law advisor as well as gather information about the pre-law minor and certificate program in the School of Public Policy, the courses offered through the Scheller Business Law and Ethics program, and the collaborative B.S./Juris Master degree agreement between Georgia Tech and Emory Law.
