This  online course will provide an in-depth examination of workplace accommodation and home modification processes that address the needs of people with functional limitations. The course will focus on describing and implementing the assessment process, including the analysis of clients, environmental factors and identification of barriers. The course will also review assessment products across a broad range of costs and technology levels, focusing on integrating accommodation examples from previous core courses into the assessment process. Multiple case studies will provide students with real world examples of the methods of assessment and types of accommodation used to identify and overcome barriers to access. Students will learn the importance of addressing environmental factors, universal design, compensatory strategies, and common technologies.

 

Note that the course will be taught in three online sessions, with sessions on Dec. 5, 7, and 9, 2011.
