The Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) recently held its annual conference, PaperCon, in Atlanta. The event was also the celebration of a century of work within the industry.

As part of the weeklong event, the Second Annual Alumni Soiree brought together graduates of eight universities representing degree programs associated with pulp and paper science.

The Renewable Bioproducts Institute was one of the participants and welcomed alumni of its Institute of Paper Science and Technology program to Atlanta. Other schools participating were Western Michigan University, North Carolina State University, Miami (Ohio) University, University of Maine, University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, University of Minnesota and SUNY ESF.

“The event really gives us a rare opportunity to share with our alumni the latest news regarding research and growth at RBI,” said Norman Marsolan, RBI executive director. “For more than 80 years, this program has produced some of the finest researchers and engineers in the industry. There is a proud history we build on today and these graduates are a huge part of our success today.”
