Study Abroad Program at Georgia Tech

Primary tabs

In an increasingly global world, it is important for students to acquire knowledge and experience in dealing with foreign cultures. Study abroad provides, not only a new perspective, but also allows students to develop new skills, independence, and the self-confidence needed to survive and succeed in the global marketplace.  International experience gives students a competitive edge when applying for jobs or graduate programs, and also builds foreign language skills and intercultural understanding.

As of 2014, 48 percent of Georgia Tech undergraduate students will graduate with an international experience. Georgia Tech Study Abroad Programs span every continent and every academic discipline. Whether it is an exchange program, faculty-led program, or study/work abroad program, the Office of International Education (www.oie.gatech.edu) offers Tech students a variety of ways to expand their horizons and develop intercultural competencies while earning their Georgia Tech degree. As an added bonus, students enrolled in a study abroad program can use their institutional financial aid for studying abroad, and most programs offer in-state tuition for all students (plus a fee for non-resident students). In addition, there are some national scholarships available specifically for students who are studying abroad.
