Last Day to Submit Program Extension in iStart

Primary tabs

If your I-20 or DS-2019 will expire in December, but you will not complete your academic program, you must get it extended before the end of the semester (12/13). If the I-20 or DS-2019 expires and you have not finished your academic program, you are considered to be out of status and will no longer be eligible to work on campus.

The normal processing time for completed e-forms is five business days. You will submit the first portion of the e-form and your graduate coordinator or academic advisor must submit the second portion. It is only after this second portion is submitted that OIE can see the e-form and the five business day time period begins.

To extend your I-20 or DS-2019, please log into iStart, choose the appropriate Program Extension e-form and follow instructions within the e-form. Please be aware that your graduate coordinator or academic advisor will be required to approve this extension and you may be required to show proof of funding if you are not fully funded by the department.
