Four College of Computing professors recently joined the fellows rank for several of the most prestigious science, engineering and computing associations.

Both the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced their Class of 2015 slate of fellows.

Among the new fellows are:

• Aaron Bobick, professor in the School of Interactive Computing, as an IEEE fellow for his contributions for activity recognition in computer vision.
• Henrik Christensen, distinguished professor in the School of Interactive Computing and KUKA Chair of Robotics, as an IEEE fellow for contributions to estimation methods for robot localization and mapping.
• Ling Liu, professor in the School of Computer Science, as an IEEE fellow for her contributionsto scalable Internet data management and decentralized trust management.
• David Sherrill, a professor with a joint appointment with the School of Computational Science and Engineering and the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, as an AAAS fellow for his contributions in advancements in electronic structure theory and their application in seminal studies of non-covalent pi interactions.

“There are few greater honors in computing that to achieve the status of ‘fellow,” and every one of these professors stand as shining examples in computing not only among the College of Computing faculty but among computer scientists around the world,” said Dean Zvi Galil. “We congratulate them and thank them for their ongoing wisdom, guidance, and expertise.”
