IOM Workshop: Bringing Public Health Into Urban Revitalization

Primary tabs

On November 10, 2014, the IOM Roundtable on Environmental Health Sciences, Research, and Medicine will host a workshop on Bringing Public Health Into Urban Revitalization.

The workshop will explore public health issues related to the redesign of major American Cities by focusing on case studies from Detroit, New York City, and Washington, DC. Rebuilding cities in decline provides an opportunity to re-imagine the built environment and increase the role of health promotion and protection. Workshop panelists will describe efforts to ensure the health of children and minorities, increase the role of public health departments and health systems, increase a sense of community, and utilize green technologies to increase livability and sustainability. This event will be held in Washington, DC, and is free and open to the public. A live webcast of the event will also be available for those unable to attend in-person.
