Funding Opportunity: Advocacy Advance's "Big Ideas" Grant

Primary tabs

The goal of Advocacy Advance—a dynamic partnership between the League of American Bicyclists and the Alliance for Biking & Walking—is to support state and local advocacy to win public funds for bicycling and walking.  Over the past three years, Advocacy Advance Rapid Response Grants have supported campaigns that have won over $120 million in public investments for active transportation projects. The grantees have produced real-world campaign plans to show other advocacy organizations how it has been done.  This fall 2014, Advocacy Advance is announcing its “Big Ideas” Grants. Modeled after our successful Rapid Response Grant program, Advocacy Advance will award $30,000 total - 3 grants of $10,000 each - to biking and walking advocacy organizations that are pushing forward on some of the most important areas of the movement. “Big Ideas” Grants are intended to help with unforeseen opportunities, short-term campaigns or to push campaigns into the end zone to win funding for biking and walking infrastructure and programs.  The Advocacy Advance partnership seeks to fund innovative campaigns addressing the most pressing issues in bicycling and walking advocacy investments. Therefore, we are especially interested in funding campaigns in the following categories:
  • Equity
  • Safety / Vision Zero
  • Health / Walking
  • Innovative local or state funding campaign
Completed applications for "Big Ideas" grants are due no later than 5:00 pm eastern on Friday, October 17, 2014. To learn more about the "Big Ideas" Grants, including further detail about the priority areas and information on how to apply, please visit www.advocacyadvance.org/grants.
