Children, Not Soldiers: An Evening with UNICEF Advocate Ishmael Beah

Primary tabs

UNICEF USA will be hosting a lecture by Ishmael Beah on October 22nd. His book, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Child Soldier, describes his experience as a 12-year old caught in the civil war in Sierra Leone, during which his whole family was killed and he was forced to become a child soldier in order to survive. It’s a fascinating story in its own right… but bone chilling when you realize it’s not a work of fiction and that many kids around the world are still living this type of nightmare. With the help of UNICEF, Mr. Beah was able to come to the United States as a refugee and is now an activist and advocate for UNICEF.
Please RSVP here in order to attend. Registration is required. The event is free, and seats are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.
