Major General Yaakov Ayisha Holds Private Briefing at Tech

Major General Yaakov Ayish, Israel Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to the U.S. and Canada, held a private briefing on Operation Protective Edge at the Georgia Tech campus on August 27, 2014.  The event was co-sponsored by the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy (CISTP) and the Israel Consulate of Atlanta. Nunn School Assistant Professor Lawrence Rubin served as moderator and provided introductory remarks.

Major General Ayish discussed the strategic, military, legal, and humanitarian implications of Operation Protective Edge. His briefing included multiple video clips that highlighted the strategic and tactical challenges that the Israel Defense Forces currently face, as well as the role of advanced technology in the conduct of the operation. This was followed by a “Chatham House Rule” Q&A session.  

Major General Ayish is the Israel Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to the U.S. and Canada. He has also held several other operational leadership positions during his military career, including as the Head of Operations Branch (J3) in the IDF General Staff, as well as the Ground Forces Command Chief of Staff during the Second Lebanon War. Major General Ayish holds a B.A. from Haifa University, a M.A. in Business Administration from Tel-Aviv University, and is a graduate of the British Army’s Joined Staff and Command course.
