Online courses like massive open online courses (MOOCs) introduce challenging new paradigms regarding classical pedagogy and all the new aspects of public education. The worldwide collaborating learning experience not only builds up new relationships in the world, but also leads to the emergence of endless questions on the fate of this digital revolution.

This academic workshop will address the issues relative to the impact of new digital technologies on learning and education:

• Learning: Is digital learning the subject of study/learning or the vehicle for study/learning? How can these approaches co-exist? What does co-existence (or lack thereof) mean/imply?
• Technology: Does technology drive learning, or do learning needs drive technology? What are the implications for students and instructors in a learning environment?
• Interaction: How can humanities disciplines and STEM disciplines enhance each other through digital learning environments?
• Certification: Will we reach international acknowledgement of learning? Will activities and programs be substitutable…and should they be?
