SEA Planning Students Conference + Florida APA Conference

Primary tabs

Poised to become the country’s third largest state, 2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Florida. Our population continues to grow, revitalization and infill have discovered our central cities, unemployment rates continue to fall, and several multimodal transportation initiatives are underway and promise to forever change our landscape. With opportunity in grasp, we also have several challenges facing our communities.

For example, as our ports continue to expand, how do we balance economic development with the health of our waterways? National trends indicate the housing market is changing. More people want to live in areas that offer features of city living, such as short commutes, walkable neighborhoods and healthy neighborhoods. What does this mean for communities where land use policies and land development patterns don’t necessarily align?  Bottom line – Florida is on the move. Join us in Jacksonville, September 3rd-6th for the 2014 APA Florida Conference as we “PLAN IN MOTION!”

This year’s conference theme, “PLAN IN MOTION”, says it all. Primary areas of focus will include transportation, the environment, health, economic markets, placemaking and professional development. However, this conference is also designed to integrate you into the surrounding community and expose you to the culture of Florida’s largest city by population and largest by land area in the contiguous United States.

The setting for this exciting conference will be in the heart of downtown at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. Here you’ll discover a wide variety of restaurants and retailers, as well as recreational and entertainment venues, all within walking distance.  On behalf of APA Florida, the First Coast Section enthusiastically invites you to the 2014 Annual Conference to enjoy all that Jacksonville and APA has to offer!
