How to Get Published and Get Your Paper Noticed - a workshop by Elsevier Publishing

Primary tabs

Whether you're a graduate student, post doc, or research assistant, publishing is a critical and necessary step in the research process. If you want to learn how to get published and get your paper noticed, RSVP to this workshop scheduled for May 21 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia Tech Library. Lunch included - RSVP required!

Attending this workshop will help you with:

  • Understanding scholarly publishing
  • Preparing articles and the review process
  • Enhancing the visibility of your work

Joe d'Angelo, publisher for the Civil engineering journals at Elsevier, will facilitate this workshop and share strategies about publishing and increasing awareness of your research. He works on structural engineering, building physics, construction materials and fire engineering titles at Elsevier. He’s recently been focusing on a number of newly launched Open Access case study publications aimed at publishing the work of applied researchers and practitioners in civil engineering. d'Angelo has over six years of STM publishing experience and previously held positions at Nature Publishing Group and Earthscan. His areas of interest include knowledge sharing between research and industry and the impact of research outside of academia.

In October, 2013, d'Angelo published a new Open Access journal "Case Studies in Fire Safety." Case Studies in Fire Safety is part of a series of "Case Studies in…" open access journals published by Elsevier within the field of engineering. Journals in the series follow the article based publishing model, allowing for immediate publication of final version of a paper without waiting for other articles to be ready to compile a full issue.
