Possible Severe Weather Tonight and Tomorrow
Primary tabs
With exam week looming, the metro Atlanta area will also experience severe weather possibility tonight through Tuesday.
So, prepare now for the possibility of severe weather:
- Make sure your emergency alert feature on your smartphone is turned on so you’ll get warnings based on your current location;
- Are you signed up for Georgia Tech Emergency Notification System (GTENS)? Sign up through passport....it only takes a few seconds! https://passport.gatech.edu/
- Back up important folders – especially important for those working on projects for final exams;
- Ensure your phone and laptops are fully charged in case of a power outage;
- Know where you can take shelter in a matter of seconds (see http://www.spc.noaa.gov/faq/tornado/safety.html for more information); and
- Remember, contact your supervisor if you do not feel comfortable driving into work whenever there is a hazardous situation.
Understanding the hazards that impact your community and learning what actions to take if one strikes, increases your preparedness. Knowing what to do before, during and after an emergency is a critical part of being prepared and may make all the difference when seconds count.
