The GT Alumni Association – What it is and what it can do for you

Abstract: Some of the many and various functions of the GT Alumni Association will be presented.

Speaker Bio:
Mr. Joseph P. Irwin is the president of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association. He joined the Alumni Association in 1999. Irwin began his career with Russell Corporation as a Los Angeles sales representative in 1980 and worked his way up to JERZEES division president in 1994 – a division with $500 million in sales and 10% net operating profits, a $25 million budget and a
staff of 135.

Irwin performed graduate work in a master’s program at the University of North Texas, a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership, and he has continued his education through a variety of professional-development programs.

Joe Irwin and his brother, Mike, wrote a book, Cathedrals of College Football, which highlights 25 football dynasties, including Georgia Tech.

Irwin has been active with the Boy Scouts of America, United Way, a variety of international charities, and the Bobby Dodd Institute. He’s on the board of the Council of Alumni Association Executives (CAAE) and the Georgia Tech Facilities Board.
