Manufacturing Brown Bag Seminar Series: Dr. John Olds

The Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI) welcomes Generation Orbit CEO John Olds on Monday, Feb. 10, for GTMI’s weekly Brown Bag Seminar Series. The seminar will begin at noon in Room 114 of the Callaway Manufacturing Research Building. Dr. Olds' talk is entitled "Generation Orbit: Building a Dedicated Launch System for Small Satellites."

In addition to serving as Generation Orbit CEO, Dr. Olds is also the founder, CEO and principal engineer of SpaceWorks Enterprises Inc. (SEI). Dr. Olds has more than 20 years of experience in the aerospace sector, including positions in private consulting, large aerospace industry, academia, and small business. As a professor, he created and directed the Space Systems Design Lab (SSDL) in the School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In his professional and academic careers, Dr. Olds has been active in the field of advanced space transportation systems analysis and design with over 100 authored or co-authored technical papers since 1986. Dr. Olds holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from N.C. State University, an M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from N.C. State University. He has received both NASA TGIR and NASA Group Achievement awards for his participation in previous NASA space systems design projects. He is an Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and is a former Fellow of the NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC).
