Georgia Teaching Fellows Now Accepting Applications!

Transform your interest in education into a high-impact career.  Learn more.

Georgia Teaching Fellows are accomplished professionals and recent graduates who commit to becoming exceptional teachers in our highest-need districts, including schools in Augusta, Atlanta and Columbus.  With hands-on training, Teaching Fellows develop the skills to hit the ground running on day one and continue improving for years to come.

Great teachers have a huge and lasting impact on students’ lives, and students grappling with the challenges of poverty need great teachers most. That’s why our program is so selective –in 2013, only 8% of all Teaching Fellows applicants successfully met our standards for admission, training and entry into the classroom.

 Successful Fellows:

  • Take ownership. Fellows believe that every single student can excel academically, and they have the responsibility to get students there.
  • Crave feedback. They seek out and welcome advice from instructors, coaches and peers.
  • Commit to practice. They work deliberately to perfect new techniques that will improve their teaching.
  • Embrace challenges. They meet the daily challenges of teaching in a high-need school with determination and optimism.
  • Share their passions. They use their deep subject knowledge to ignite student interest, inspiring achievement and a real love of learning.

Georgia Teaching Fellows is currently seeking candidates with the skills and content expertise required to teach the following critical-need subjects:

  • Elementary Education
  • Mathematics – Middle and High School
  • Middle School Education (Augusta Only)
  • Science – Middle and High School
  • Social Studies – Middle School (Atlanta only)
  • Special Education – All grades

All teachers support students with learning disabilities, but as a special educator, you’ll get specialized training to ensure that these students get the excellent education they deserve. Special educators work in a wide variety of settings that may include working with a small group of 10-12 students in an independent classroom, co-teaching in a general education classroom, or a combination of the two. Fellows who are certified to teach special education are typically among our earliest Fellows to get hired because it is such a critical shortage area.

Apply now to join the ranks of this elite group of educators.

Application deadlines are:

November 11, 2013

December 16, 2013

January 20, 2014

February 24, 2014
