When the average engineer thinks of electron beam lithography and micrographs, the image of microstructures on substrates, integrated circuits or nano-architectures might come to mind but, the inherit beauty of these structures may be overlooked. The organizers of the International Conference on Electron, Ion and Photon Beam Technology and Nanaofabrication have recognized this aspect of the field each year in its Annual MicroGraph Contest.

The 2013 Micrograph Photography Contest Grand Prize winner was Senior Researcher Devin Brown from the Georgia Tech Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (IEN). Devin presented his photo of a field image of residue from HSQ, water, and TMAH on silicon substrate entitled “Blue Sun Flower” at this year’s EIPBN International Convention in Nashville Tennessee.

Devin received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently a specialist in electron beam lithography with IEN in the fields of nanotechnology and microfabrication. Devin has also worked with numerous corporations and universities as a developmental consultant and has over 20 years of experience in cleanroom processing and fabrication.
