Ries Debates Georgia Film Industry Tax Credits on 11Alive News Broadcast

In her ongoing quest to inject sound economic science into the public discourse and public policy, Dr. Christine Ries, Professor of Economics, was featured in a live debate on the Georgia movie and television industry tax incentives.  The broadcast aired on the 7:00 p.m. 11Alive News on Thursday, September 5, 2013.

Ries argued against the tax incentives for the film industry and supported giving credits to industries that support a longer-term commitment to job production in the state such as manufacturing.  Her opponent, debating for the tax incentives for the film industry, was Ric Reitz.  Reitz is a President of SAG-AFTRA and an actor, writer, composer, director and producer.  He also helped Georgia lawmakers write the film tax credit laws.
