Deadline for seniors to apply for a 2013-2014 Noyce Scholarship

Up to seven one –year $10,000 National Science Foundation Noyce Scholarships are immediately available for senior Tech students who want to teach secondary level (grades -6-12) mathematics through a partnership with Kennesaw State.
Seniors at Tech who are majoring in a STEM* field or STEM-related field and have a minimum 3.0 GPA may apply immediately to receive the scholarship during the 2013 fall and 2014 spring semester. Upon graduation in 2014, recipients will then enter into a Masters of Art (MAT) in Teaching in Mathematics Education (grades 6-12) at Kennesaw State. The MAT degree includes graduate-level content coursed as well as initial teaching certification in Georgia. Teachers with a master’s receive higher salaries. Participants will also complete requirements to teach mathematics to English Language Learners. Recipients are required to complete one year of teaching in a high-need school district for each $5,000 of support received. Applicants do not have to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) if a senior.

Applicants are being accepted now and must be received by September 1st
Funds may also possibly be available for those who have recently graduated.
