The Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI) welcomes Coca-Cola Freestyle's Ravind Shrotria on Monday, Sept. 23, for GTMI’s weekly Brown Bag Seminar Series. Shrotria’s seminar on “Shortage of Tooling Engineers and Its Impact on US Manufacturing” will begin at noon in Room 114 of the Callaway Manufacturing Research Building.

Rav is a hands-on engineer, multi-skilled in engineering, manufacturing, tooling and design.

Rav Shrotria started his apprenticeship in Germany as a tool and mold Maker 30 years ago. He  completed his bachelor’s in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the the University of Glamorgan in Wales in 1992.  Rav has worked in tool design and manufacturing Engineering across diverse industries such as automotive, aerospace, lighting, rubber and sealing technologies. He has been employed by companies such as Siemens, Freudenberg-NOK, Elring Klinger, Toyo Tires and The Coca-Cola Company. Rav has experience in R&D, prototyping and testing of new products and with very high volume, low cost product design. In addition, he has worked with various cross-functional teams from design to manufacturing personnel involving conception through production of products.

Throughout his career, the goal has been to achieve the most efficient and cost prudent manufacturing, utilizing the best materials, methods, processes and equipment.

Furthermore, Rav has used an open minded and creative attitude toward new product concepts and design. He has developed compound tooling that is unique in stainless steel gasket development. Rav has also developed products that are deep drawn sheet metal and used mathematical models to create first time draw ratios for first time success.

Rav is Six Sigma green belt certified in lean manufacturing. He is currently working on his PMP certification. 

About Coca-Cola Freestyle:

Coca-Cola Freestyle® is the brand name for a new Coca-Cola fountain dispenser that uses microdosing technology to dispense more than 100 sparkling and still beverage brands from a single freestanding unit. The new unit has approximately the same footprint as today’s six-or eight-valve dispensers.

Coca-Cola Freestyle®, the first in a family of dispensers, creates branded beverages by blending concentrated ingredients with water and sweetener at the point where the beverage is dispensed via proprietary PurePour Technology™. It does not use syrup, but instead uses concentrated ingredients stored in cartridges in the dispenser cabinet.
