The Association for Energy Engineers (AEE) has named School of Building Construction graduate student Abe Kruger the Region II Young Energy Professional of the Year. Every year the AEE selects a young professional from each of the 5 regions in the United States to honor their outstanding contributions to the energy profession and their community.

Abe Kruger has honed his expertise in sustainable construction over 8 years as a contractor, educator, author, and consultant in the residential construction industry. In 2009 he founded Kruger Sustainability Group to provide green building training, consulting and curriculum development for colleges, companies, utilities and nonprofits. He is the contracted ENERGY STAR Program Manager at GoodCents where he is responsible for designing and implementing residential energy efficiency programs, including ENERGY STAR new homes, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, low-income weatherization, and HVAC tune-up programs. He has designed residential programs for over 30 utility companies.

While at Georgia Tech, he has been a Residential Construction Industry Applied Research Fellow as part of the Housing Education Leadership Program (HELP).  Through this fellowship he has worked on research related to the National Association of Home Builder’s (NAHB) certification programs.
