Artist: Isaac Duncan, III

Artist Bio:
Isaac Duncan III, a Brooklyn, New York native and Afro-Cuban descendant, received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame and certification of secondary art education from St. Mary's College. In 2001, he was awarded a Lyman T. Johnson Fellowship from the University of Kentucky where he completed his Masters of Fine Arts in Art Studio- Sculpture.

Duncan has taught elementary and middle school art in St. Joseph, Michigan, sculpture at the University of Kentucky during his fellowship, and digital image making at Kentucky State University, in Frankfort, Kentucky. He has been an artist-in-residence for Gallery 37/Archi-Treasures, Barbara Gene Wright Complex, Richard Hunt Studio Center,  and with the Association of Visual Artist of Chattanooga, Tennessee, assisting Chakaia Booker.

Isaac was employed by John Henry Sculptor, Inc. for three years as the crew supervisor, heavy equipment operator and assistant to the renowned sculptor. In 2008, Duncan opened his own studio, Duncan Sculpture and Services, where he creates his large scale sculptures and fabrication projects. He also teaches as Adjunct Professor at Chattanooga State Technical College.
