"Tech Gets Medieval" Symposium Now Available on SmarTech

Presentations from the fall 2012 symposium "Tech Gets Medieval: How Medieval Technology Can Teach the Past" are now available at Georgia Tech's SmarTech repository. Access the talks here.

The symposium was organized by Kellie Meyer, a Brittain Fellow in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC), and colleagues from different areas of specialty across Georgia Tech.

Presenations include:

  • "Biology and Germ Warfare," by Chrissy Spencer, academic professional in the School of Biology
  • "Blacksmithing and Timber-Framed Houses: Pedagogy of Risk," by Hugh Crawford, LMC associate professor
  • "Medieval Construction – Foundation of Today's Industry," by Brian Bowen, professor of the practice in the College of Architecture
  • "Neo-Medieval Fantasy in Video Games," by Celia Pearce, LMC professor
  • "Tried and True Methods," by Krystina Madej, LMC visiting assistant professor
  • "Your Mission is to Rescue Lorenzo di Medici: A Demonstration of the Pedagogical Potentials of Using Assassin's Creed II for Teaching the Italian Renaissance," by Amanda Madden, LMC Brittain Fellow

The symposium also includes opening remarks made by Rebecca Burnett, professor in LMC, and Richard Utz, chair of the school.
