Reengineered Gold & White Honors Gala Scheduled for February 21, 2013

The Georgia Tech Alumni Association (GTAA) announced that this year’s Gold & White Honors Gala (formerly the Gold & White Honors Dinner) is open to the public.

The event, presented by Waffle House, will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead and will feature a silent auction, dinner, and recognition of this year’s Georgia Tech alumni award recipients. All proceeds will benefit student programming to develop and inspire the next generation of alumni leaders. Award recipients will be announced November 26. Information, including sponsorship opportunities and table reservations, is available at gtalumni.org/gold&white.

According to GTAA President and CEO Joe Irwin, the event will be even more special now that it’s open to the entire Tech and Atlanta community.  “The award recipients have always been an inspiration to event attendees, and this year is no exception. Opening the event up to the entire community and adding an auction seemed like a natural evolution to help ensure Tech’s extraordinary students become our future extraordinary alumni,” he said.

Participants will also enjoy new features, such as this year’s silent auction. “You can bid on a limited edition life size Buzz statue or a dinner at your home cooked by Local Three owner, chef and avid Tech fan, Chris Hall,” he said. “The proceeds will directly benefit student programs, such as Mentor Jackets, the Alumni Association’s touted alumni-to-student mentoring program, and the Georgia Tech Student Foundation, recently named the nation’s Outstanding Student Organization by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.”

Attendees will also have an opportunity to mix and mingle with some of Tech’s most accomplished alumni. “It’s not every day you get the likes of these impressive alumni, leaders and philanthropists in the same room,” noted Walt Ehmer, Alumni Association Chair and Waffle House President and CEO.  “It’s a night where we as a community come together to not only recognize, but inspire, greatness.  It’s going to be a magical evening no Tech alum, community leader, or friend should miss.”
